The women of Abya Yala, Kurdistan, and the world raise our voices against the invasion, and we unite to build peace among peoples and a truly popular democracy. We do not support any project aimed at enlarging the coffers of patriarchal imperialist capitalism.
Early this morning on January 3, the venezuelan people were abruptly awakened and stunned by the noise of the bombs. Today the peoples of the world awoke to terrible news. Once again, the sovereignty of Nuestra América has been violated, and its peoples pushed into war. Today at dawn, the US empire launched a criminal attack, bombing strategic locations of Venezuelan political and military power, leading to the kidnapping of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores.
The politics of death imposed on our territories is not new; it is a colonialist logic that, during the 20th century, took the form of U.S. imperialism over our lands, through the implementation of neoliberal policies and doctrines of war that our peoples resisted with revolutions and dignified rage. This logic views Mother Earth as a commodity and our people as objects without the right to live with dignity. For decades, the United States has sought to appropriate common goods such as oil, and now it seeks to control the emerging rare earths market, in order to continue feeding the greed of capital and those who manage it, thus consolidating its political hegemony of death across the world.
We know enough about the genocidal alliances between the great economic powers. For more than two years, we have witnessed, in real time, a massacre in Palestine and the Middle East. The path of extractive capital advances with armed crusades. Abya Yala is also a geopolitically strategic territory, and it is these interests that are now being materialized in the US invasion. We are experiencing a dispute for world hegemony in which the great powers, in alliance with regional and local state powers, are attempting to increase their power at the expense of the plunder, pillage, and domination of peoples.
We, as the Women Weaving the Future Network, raise our voices against US intervention in the territories and peoples of Abya Yala. We oppose all actions that seek to control our lives, our autonomy, and our sovereignty as peoples. Today, the history of struggle that has united us is being revived, and now, as always, we are organizing to defend life and popular sovereignty.
We stand in solidarity with the Venezuelan people, and we warn that this offensive by the US is not only against Venezuela or its leaders, nor is it a “fight against drug trafficking.” It is a frontal attack on the self-determination of all the peoples of the continent. Today it is Venezuela, but it is also the rest of Abya Yala and the world.
That is why we will not remain silent or immobile in the face of a project of “peace and democracy” based on the annihilation of our peoples and the plundering of our territories. Our struggles are common and our resistance knows no borders.
